My 10 Minute Natural Makeup Routine featuring 100% Pure

written by JILL May 6, 2017

So I did it, I took the plunge into the massive Youtube pool and put together my first tutorial featuring some of my new favorite natural makeup from 100 Percent Pure!

First off let me tell you a little about this awesome brand. 100 PERCENT PURE sells beauty and cosmetic products using 100% organic and natural ingredients in every product. They are also 100% animal cruelty-free and support several animal nonprofits as well as many others. They love to use sustainable and eco-friendly components in other areas including their packaging where they use recycled tin cans for their bronzer, blush and shadow containers, and even their packaging peanuts are made from cornstarch and dissolve in water (I had so much fun playing with these). I’ve only used their natural makeup and am reviewing some of their products in this post, but they sell natural makeup, skincare products, body and hair products and even baby products.

MY NATURAL MAKEUP ROUTINE

But we are here for a makeup tutorial and that’s what I have for you. This is my 10 minute (quick and fast) daily natural makeup routine, using my new 100 Percent Pure products.  Even though I’ve always loved makeup and have researched and tried a ton of different products and application methods  I’ve always stuck to basic, natural makeup to go with my everyday look when I go out. I rarely ever do a full cake face unless I’m having fun, and when my skin is in good condition I rarely like to put on foundation because my skin doesn’t really react the best to most out there. For this tutorial, I stuck to my go to process and replaced my everyday products with my new 100 Percent Pure products to see how it would look like.

I also just want to throw in there that I use Lush’s Charity Pot body lotion as my face lotion/ primer. Everyone always says this is so weird but I love this is because of the glycerin in it which leaves my face a little sticky and helps it stay moisturized when I apply my makeup. I’m going to do a whole blog post on my favorite natural beauty products soon so stay tuned.

A few points to make about this routine vs my everyday look:

  1. I don’t always use a bright lipstick even though I have quite a few, (more natural matte tones are my go to)
  2. I don’t always do a dark color on my eyes (but I do use my blush and bronzer with a light color undertone first)
  3. I also will sometimes use a light mineralizer powder after my foundation if it’s too dewy

FUN FACT about me, when I was in grade 8 I wanted to become a makeup artist and almost signed up to Blance MacDonald makeup and esthetics school when I was a few years older, but didn’t.

REVIEW OF THE PRODUCTS

BB Cream Shade 20 Aglow SPF 15

I liked the finish of this BB cream, it’s really moist and dewy and really doesn’t feel like normal BB creams I’ve tried (which is a comment other people make too.)  It’s quite thick and almost sticky when you apply it but when I applied it on its own I used my fingers and it really blended in well and was a good medium finish. You can also build it up if you wanted a bit more full coverage. I didn’t mind the smell which was a complaint by a few other people, and really if it wasn’t for the color I would have loved and only used this foundation. There’s only 3 color choices (10, 20 & 30) and going with the 20 was a good color darkness however it is really warm toned and because of that, I needed to blend it with the 2nd skin foundation in order to achieve a cooler tone for my skin. It also has SPF 15 so that’s a nice plus for those who are conscious of sun damage.

2nd Skin Foundation: White Peach Olive Squalane + Fruit Pigments

This foundation was a little bit of a let down, to be honest. I was hoping it to be a bit more moist with a dewy finish however the finish on its own is a little too drying for me. I have really dry skin, and I’ve spent so many hours researching and trying all kinds of foundations from expensive to cheap to natural, and this one I’d give about a 6 out of 10 for dry skin. The color was pretty good and it’s a cool tone (which is what I wear) however it’s a bit too light for my complexion so if I were to get it again I would try one shade darker in a cool tone.

Cocoa Pigmented Bronzer – Cocoa Glow

I love this bronzer! The slight shimmer in it really gives a nice touch because it’s not too overpowering and I love a nice dewy look whether it’s natural or I have to create it so this bronzer helps with that. Beware though it is SUPER pigmented so you really don’t need a lot. It will last forever 🙂

Long Last Brows – Soft Brown (currently sold out alternative HERE)

I was so impressed with this brow gel, it’s super pigmented, so soft and glides on my brows with ease. I’ve used  E.L.F brow gel for the longest time, and it isn’t near as good as this brow gel. The color Soft Brown is perfect for me since I have natural ash brown hair. The tone of the brow gel is less warm so it’s great for those who want a cooler toned gel. Definitely, wait until it’s back in stock, or if you’re too impatient try the alternative I provided above.

Fruit Pigmented Pretty Naked Palette II

They have a thing for super pigmented products because again these shadows and blushes are so pigmented you barely need to use anything. I loved this palette because it provides enough choices from the highlighter, blush, and shadows to create a natural or fuller look if you wanted. I love to use my blush and bronzer as an overlay shadow to give more natural color to my eyes. The blush is a great color too because it’s not too pink and not too orange/bronzy it’s right in the middle! This palette also has a highlighter in it so you won’t need to buy another highlighter on the side.

Gemmed Luminizer-Moonstone Glow

This luminizer has been a great replacement to my favorite highlighter I always use my Becca in Moonstone. Although I still LOVE my Becca, (especially because it’s a more white/cream tone than this one) I will definitely keep using this one because well it’s 100% natural and it does a really great job! The tone of this luminizer leaves a slight pink undertone so it’s great for cool light skin tones like me (of if you like a more cool pink look). They have a few other luminizers you can check out too.

Black Tea Long Last Liquid Eye Liner

This eyeliner instantly replaced my Lise Watier Feline Eyeliner HD. I heard so many crazy good reviews about the Feline Eyeliner by Lise Watier and when I got it I was so disappointed, it was dry I had to pump the tip before every use and it just wouldn’t glide like I wanted. The Black Tea Long Last Liquid Eye Liner from 100 Percent Pure is by far my favorite. It glides so nice, the applicator is a perfect size and the brush is great, and it lasts a long time and can easily be scrubbed off. I love it, if you’re looking for a great new liner you have to try this one!

Fruit Pigmented Ultra Lengthening Mascara – Black Tea

This mascara smells amazing! Every time I use it I have to take a big sniff before I put it on. I was a bit skeptical at first about trying a natural mascara, cause I’ve used my L’Oreal Voluminous Mascara for YEARS and haven’t wanted to let it go. But I gotta say this one holds up pretty good. It has a nice curved applicator so it forms to your lashes nicely, and you do need to apply a few coats (maybe a little more often than I would for my L’Oreal mascara but this could be because of the applicator). All in all, it’s a good mascara, it doesn’t flake off after a few hours which some other mascaras tend to do, and I haven’t had it long enough to tell how long it takes until it drys out but I’m sure it will last a good amount of time. For the smell, I give it 10 out of 10!

Cocoa Butter Semi-Matte Lipstick: Marrakesh

I love this lipstick! The color is so bright and pink I would love to try some others in this line. It also smells incredible and the finish is pretty good ( it’s not as matte as my go to MAC lipsticks which I like but it is semi-matte so that’s good with me).  My only critic is that I would love to see a few more natural lip colors in this line up because the smell and finish are really nice!

FUN TIP: you can also use this lipstick as a lip stain if you wanted.  Just apply a coat and then wait a minute and wipe it off. Because of how pigmented this lipstick is it”ll leave a beautiful natural stain on your lips if you didn’t want the full bright lip color the whole day!

So those are my thoughts on the natural makeup products that I used. Definitely, go check them out and let me know what products you’ve tried and love, or products you’d like to try ( I really wanna try some of their skincare masks like their Bright Eyes Mask, or their Green Tea Water Bomb Mask).  Shop the link below!
