I recently came across this amazing e-boutique Arc Apparel and had to share it with everyone! They are a Canadian based online boutique selling amazing modern and chic women’s ethical clothing and accessories from a collection of responsible brands. I love their slogan and feel it sums up who they are wonderfully in a single quote:
“Beautiful clothes, curated for you, sourced from responsible brands”
This online storefront is full of brands that either focus on leaving a sustainable impact or sources their clothes in an ethical manner following the principles of fair trade, or highlight giving back to communities.
Educating ourselves as consumers is a huge part of what it means to be a part of the conscious slow fashion movement. Arc Apparel does a wonderful job of educating consumers with a brilliantly written and informative Impact page. Here you can read up on some of the basics of conscious fashion and discover some key issues impacting the apparel industry. Carefully and tastefully written they have summed up industry concerns and hot topics quite well.
For example, did you know that in Bangladesh, which is the world’s second leading apparel exporter has a minimum wage of 21 cents per hour! That’s insane. Facts like these are sprinkled in an educational description of issues such as fair trade, clothing life-cycle, waste issues, fabrics and even toxic chemicals that are in many of the clothes we love and enjoy.
You can read up on each of the brands that Arc Apparel features on their site and the brand’s impact on their Learn More About the Brands page.
We were born from a love for fashion, people and the planet, from the notion that one thing cannot be separated from the other. ARC APPAREL
One of the biggest challenges that I faced once I realized I wanted to support conscious fashion was trying to find new brands that fit my personal style. Thanks to many hours of dedicated research I’ve found some amazing conscious brands that I love and support!
Arc Apparel has made it easy for all of us by featuring a wide variety of conscious brands all sold in one spot on their site. All the brands are super rad and the best part is if you are Canadian you don’t have to worry about those crazy shipping/duty fees because Arc Apparel is Canadian based! Currently, they feature 15 responsible brands:
AG Jeans | Alexis Mera | Alternative Apparel | AMARA | Amour Vert | COSSAC | Groceries Apparel | Mary Younge | Matt & Nat | Vitamin A | Bella Dahl | Faithful | Fidelity Denim | Levis | Sokoloff Lingerie
I’m featuring three brands that I really enjoy:
With 100% non-toxic garments, their own factory in California and a minimal carbon footprint, Groceries apparel is leading fashion into the conscious era. They operate with a transparent supply chain, manufacture locally and use eco-conscious fabrics and dyes. Not only that they recycle cotton and refinish cotton t-shirts, as well as recycle plastic to create materials, how cool is that!
Everyone’s heard of Levi’s but not many people know that they have always made a positive impact in social business. The company is committed to supporting an eco-friendly world and has joined the sustainable movement by adopting the Better Cotton initiative, a commitment to growing cotton in a sustainable way and they are producing Water<Less™ Jeans made consciously with as little water waste as possible. Their jeans are classic and I love their denim shirts too, so chic.
100% ethically designed and manufactured in Montreal, Canada, Sokoloff Lingerie was founded just a few years ago but is an up and coming brand dedicated to fine craftsmanship. They are recognized for premium fit and maximum comfort in their designs and the company promotes a feminine style with a healthy body image.
The stunning pieces featured in this post were given to me for review by Arc Apparel. All opinions are our own and written honestly. At Sutton + Grove we feature brands and businesses that we truly love and believe fit within a conscious lifestyle. Read more HERE.
