HOW WE SOUL | Chic, Casual & Conscious Fashion That Gives Back

written by JILL July 7, 2017

How We Soul is a conscious brand that creates ethically made leggings and tops  that give back AND are extremely affordable and super comfortable!

HWS began out of a work/travel trip from the co-founder Tasha to Botswana, Africa during her collegiate years. She fell in love with the country and together with a friend started HWS as a way to stay connected and give back to the inspiring people she met in Botswana.

It is pretty inspiring to see this kind of idea put into action. We have a long trip planned and in the works for this fall and reading stories like these make me so excited to get out there, meet interesting people and discover new cultures.

CONSCIOUS LEGGINGS + TOPS

Made with eco-conscious materials, How We Soul’s conscious leggings & crop top are soft luxurious and are made consciously using 70% less water, heat, and energy during the production process.

Every piece is made with love in Montreal Canada by workers who are paid fair living wages. All paper waste is recycled and the extra excess fabric from the production process is donated to local inner-city shelters.

How We Soul has a low carbon footprint as they source and manufacture their ethical leggings & tops in the same city.

What I also love is that they have the cutest variety of designs so you can express your personal style and look cute doing it!

They just recently launched their NEW striped black and white crop top made from the same material. I love this top because of it’s versatility,  you can wear it for working out, swimming, or just going out for the day.

MY PICKS

CROP TOP | Black and White Striped size Medium

This top fits like a glove, it’s very true to size. I’ve worn it swimming, and out in the city and love how versatile it is and also how well it pairs with other patterns or solids. The only comment I would make if you are going to swim with it is throw a couple boob pads from another bathing suit or bra inside the top so you have good coverage when you get a bit chilly (if you know what I mean)!

STARDUST FOLD OVER WAIST LEGGINGS | Size medium

These leggings fit so great. I’ve been skeptical of ordering leggings online because most of the time either a small fits great, or medium is too large, or small is too small, it’s been hard to find accurate sizing that fits it all the right places (even after going for a long hike). I don’t like having to hike my leggings up in the crotch all the time, and a few different pairs I have I have to do that. HOWEVER these leggings really do fit true to size. I think the high waist helps a lot in this as well as they fit snug and high without making me feel like I’m being sucked out of my pants!  The high waist is super flattering and the cool thing is you can fold the waist over for a less high waist, even though I don’t think I would do that because I love the height so much. It pairs perfectly with any crop top and the material is super light and stretchy so you can slip them on and off super easy.

THE BOTSWANA ORPHAN PROJECT

Birthed out of a love for the people of Botswana, the Botswana Orphan Project provides pre-school and day care services to at-risk orphans and children.

Children are able to stay at home with relatives instead of being relocated into an orphanage and are given a loving healthy environment through the services offered.

If you buy a pair of conscious leggings or a top 100% of the after-cost profits go directly to the project.

If you’ve been looking for a new pair of leggings or a cute little athleisure outfit that won’t hurt your wallet too much, then make sure to go check out the different styles and that new crop top! You’ll love  how they fit, and feel good knowing you’re supporting cute little pre-schoolers in Botswana!
