VYAYAMA | Luxurious Eco-Conscious Active & Yoga wear

written by JILL October 7, 2017

VYAYAMA is a luxurious, eco-conscious, ethically made yoga wear and activewear line including tank tops, shorts, leggings, crop tops and undergarments all inspired by nature expressed in the elegant monochromatic style and bold prints.  Vyayama was founded on the desire to provide a natural alternative to synthetic yoga wear and belief that products we wear and love should be held to the same standard of quality we have for ourselves.

We believe that mindfulness should inspire quality, beauty and joy.

With this desire and belief, Vyayama’s products are all made with luxurious natural, eco-friendly materials and ethically made in small family owned factories in Europe.

VYAYAMA means ‘to move’ and ‘to tame the inner breath’. It is a very old Sanskrit word, which is an ancient Indic language of India. Many classic poems and old Hindu texts are written in this language. Ayurvedic medicine(which is one of the world oldest medical techniques) describes VYAYAMA as a movement which is meant to stabilize and strengthen the body.

In the Yoga apparel demographic most clothes are made of synthetics, which dominate the market. VYAYAMA has chosen to focus on natural, sustainable fibers with a huge focus on botanically sourced fabrics which include, Cashmere, Tencel, &  Modal all, conscious sourced and eco-friendly.

One of the fabrics VYAYAMA uses as noted above is TENCEL® which is made from sustainably-farmed eucalyptus trees. TENCEL® is a wonderful fabric, it is breathable, shrink-resistant, wrinkle-resistant and is non-toxic, anti-odor and fully biodegradable. It feels good to wear but is also the ultimate fabric in regards to limiting environmental impact. Read more about TENCEL® HERE

VYAYAMA pieces are tested by third parties after creation and get 100% safe certification by the European Oeko-tex® Standard 100. This certification states that no harmful toxins could be absorbed from the clothes into your body.

Reflection Print Crop Top

This top is more like a sports bra than a crop top, but because of how low the top goes down it can be worn either or. I truly love everything about this top: the neckline is super flattering, the print is beautifully elegant and simple but bold at the same time and the fit is snug enough to hold everything in. Because the straps are so thick and the fit is a bit snug it doesn’t put any strain on your shoulders when your running or wearing it for long periods of time (something I personally struggle with on most other sports bras). I was advised to size up to a Large (as I normally wear a Medium) and it was good advice because even the Large is snug so I don’t think I could have made it in the Medium.

Seamless Cashmere Modal T-Shirt  (white)

Sheer, soft and delicate; The three main components of this long sleeve scoop neck cashmere modal shirt. It’s not a top that you would wear on its own because of the obvious sheer nature of it, but what I like about this top is that it elevates a bralette, crop top or tank and adds additional warmth without compromising the exposure of the undergarment. I am wearing a size medium and it fits true to size.

Kalablak Tank (black)

The material on this tank and the leggings is a unique material blend of Tencel and Elastane giving it a sculpturing and soft texture that forms well to your body. Because of this, the top does fit a bit snugger than most stretch tanks so I would advise if you wanted a more free fit, size up (I’m wearing a Medium). The neckline and design is similar to the crop top bralette which I love and think is super flattering, and is also longer which helps to elongate the body to make you look very slim.

Kalablak Leggings (black)

Like the tank, the blend of Tencel and elastane makes these leggings soft, very comfortable to wear and sculpts your lower half beautifully. They are nice and long, (which is great for me being 5’11”) and designed with a high waist. They do have give to them but fit true to size. I decided to go with a size smaller than usual (I’m wearing a size small) and I think it borderlines too tight and just right, I’ll just need to keep running in them to get them to be a perfect fit.
