Atelier Alienor is a conscious shoe brand that offers stylish, high quality sustainable french espadrilles. Their beautiful shoes are responsibly made using eco-friendly materials and methods. Atelier Alienor specializes in French espadrilles which are a staple shoe in the south of France.

Founder of Atelier Alienor Laurie Cazaux was born on the Southern French Coast along the Mediterranean and spent her childhood in Africa and then lived for over a decade in Paris. She has a love for travel and a deep respect and value for people and nature.

Her understanding of French espadrilles is that they not only represent a nice chic pair of shoes (which they certainly are), but that they are a promise of an endless summer, tanned bodies, and romantic adventures. This summer Atelier Alienor launched their first collection of French Espadrilles, made from the finest conscious materials with exquisite details.  The collection features mostly neutral and pastel tones that pair perfectly with classic, neutral looks.

All of Atelier Alienor‘s conscious espadrilles shoes are handmade in Southern France, which makes them extremely unique and authentic as only 1% of espadrilles worldwide are made in France. Making the espadrilles using handmade traditional techniques is a slower process but produces a more durable, higher quality shoe.

All shoes are handmade using a special technique called the ‘double stitching method’. This ensures a shoe design that will last as opposed to espadrilles made with machines which cannot duplicate this method and as a result produces a less durable shoe. By choosing to produce their shoes using handmade techniques Atelier Aliennor are committing to high-quality long lasting shoe durability.

ETHICALLY SOURCED French Espadrilles

All materials used by Atelier Alienor are made with the finest quality and meet the eco-conscious and ethical standards set forth by the EU and the USA. Their shoes are ethically manufactured in France in a factory with safe working conditions.

All of the packaging used to send you their lovely shoes are made from recycled paper.

In their new collection are a selection of 8 different espadrilles made with two different materials leather and eco canvas, with some featuring a ribbon or ankle strap. As mentioned above, most of the colors are light pastel with the exception of their Black Canvas + Leather espadrilles.

I am featuring the Eleonore espadrilles, made with two colors and two materials: white leather and light blue canvas. Because of their light color combination I’ve found that these she’s can be styled with a wide range of outfits. They fit really well and are super comfortable, however I recommend sizing up and reading the sizing recommendations on their website. I usually wear a size 40  (9-9.5 US size) and I ended up going with the 41 which fit perfect. They will stretch out a bit, but you don’t want them too tight!
