This is our review of one of the finest sustainable hotels in Copenhagen, Hotel Kong Arthur!

Located in beautiful downtown Copenhagen, Denmark, Hotel Kong Arthur is a small sustainable boutique hotel rooted in the local community. The hotel is situated on a beautiful cobblestone street and across from the beautiful inner lakes of Copenhagen. In the neighborhood, there are a vast amount of artsy chic cafes, bars, restaurants, and shops.

Jill and I were exhausted when we arrived in Copenhagen, yet as soon as we walked through the beautiful big oak front doors of Kong Arthur Hotel we felt right at home and were captured by the peaceful atmosphere in the main lobby. In the lobby, you’ll find a cozy fireplace, dimmed lighting, comfy sofas, books galore and even pillows in the window sill. After taking it all in we were greeted by the friendliest hotel staff member I’ve ever encountered who proceeded to walk us through what we could look forward to and even provided a free cocktail after checking in. A truly amazing check-in experience.

Breakfast at Kong Arthur was incredible. They really went all out with the variety of tasty organic, locally sourced or fair trade breakfast foods. My favorite was the signature dish of waffles made from an old Danish recipe that includes beer! How great is that, beer and waffles, what a delightful combo.

The breakfast is made with fresh local ingredients:

  •  Bread from a local baker who uses organic flour
  • Jam made from Fresh Berries
  • Butter from local dairy farms

Truly a unique breakfast buffet, I can’t say I’ve ever had one quite as tasty and with such variety. You can look forward to a fresh, local, organic buffet that is one of a kind.

Inspired by Eastern meditation, Copenhagens biggest spa at Ni’mat located inside Hotel Kong Arthur. As you enter you will be engulfed in a peaceful atmosphere that’s built to refresh and relax. You can get a message or spa treatment inspired by Asian tradition or just relax in the hot tub, sauna or steam room.

If you’re looking to keep active during your stay you can either hit the weights in the fitness room, rent bikes to explore the city right from the hotel’s backyard or join in on the running club which runs every Tuesday and Thursday morning. It’s facilitated by a coach and is a beautiful scene 5km run. You’ll be running with the locals, staff members or other hotel guests so it’s a great way to get to know a stranger and say hello. After you finish you can enjoy a spa and smoothie free of charge in the Hotel.

If you are looking for sustainable hotels in Copenhagen then definitely make sure to check out Kong Arthur Hotel.
