Over the past year, we’ve had the privilege of working with Icebreaker on several different campaigns testing and reviewing quite a few pieces from their men’s and women’s collection. They quickly became some of our favorite pieces in our closet which wasn’t a big surprise given the quality, comfort and natural fibers their pieces are made with. This fall, both Luke and I have started layering our Icebreaker pieces to help keep us warm and naturally insulated which is what I want to talk about below.Pic from Icebreaker NZ website.

NATURAL LAYERING SYSTEM

Icebreaker’s natural layering system is specifically designed for all conditions, made lightweight and regulated to your body temperature. Whether you’re hiking up a mountain or battling through a snowstorm Icebreaker gear will adjust to your adventure, keeping you dry and ready to roll.

One thing Luke and I both love about Icebreaker’s outdoor wear is just how light the clothes are, specifically the outer layer. Most warmer jackets are quite heavy but the jackets we chose are light but still very warm.

Luke loves that his jacket can be rolled up into a stuff sack and easily carried when he wants to take off his jacket. He tends to under layer on most outdoor adventures because he doesn’t like having to carry around a big bulky coat but that isn’t a problem with his lightweight jacket from Icebreaker.

I have dealt with chronic neck and shoulder pain for a while, so I need a jacket to be as light as possible in order to avoid my pain to flare up. This lightweight outer layer is one of the lightest jackets in my wardrobe and because of this, I don’t get the shoulder pain that other jackets will trigger when wearing it for hours on end.

FIRST LAYER

Luke – MEN’S TECH LITE SHORT SLEEVE CREWE

Breathable and odor resistant, the Tech Lite Short Sleeve is ideal for your first layer. This shirt is very versatile. He wears it to the gym as well as when he goes out to the mountains or just as an everyday t-shirt. It’s comfortable and it fits great too.

Jill – WOMEN’S COOL-LITE™ SPHERE LONG SLEEVE LOW CREWE

Lightweight, soft and made with Icebreaker’s natural Cool-Lite™ blend of merino and TENCEL®. The perfect first layer in your natural layering system. I wear it quite often around the house when I go for a run or layering on an outdoor adventure.

MID LAYER

Luke – MEN’S 260 TECH LONG SLEEVE HALF ZIP

An essential layering piece for cold winter conditions, this long sleeve half zip fits long, snug and is quite comfortable. It feels like a well made piece of clothing and Luke often wears it on his runs here in the UK countryside.

Jill – WOMEN’S CARRIGAN SWEATER SWEATSHIRT

Stylish, cut beautifully and so comfy, the carrigan sweater features a blend of merino wool, nylon, and elastane and you’ll want to wear it every day all day. This sweater’s gentle crop adds volume, shape and has an easy-wear feel to it. It’s one of my favorite sweaters and has become a go-to for lounging, dressing up or layering for the outdoors.

OUTER LAYER

Luke – MEN’S MERINOLOFT™ HYPERIA HOODED JACKET

A lightweight jacket perfect for chilly adventures. It has MerinoLOFT™ insulation, which is a lighter and warmer alternative and evolution of the down jacket. It fits well true to size and has a great length on it too.

Jill – WOMEN’S COLLINGWOOD 3Q HOODED JACKET

The Collingwood 3Q Hooded Jacket is a women’s merino wool puffy jacket designed sustainably with a longer fit in a modern style. It is incredibly lightweight for it’s size, lined with 100% merino wool and sure to keep you warm during those cold winter days. I love the length because it helps keep my thighs warm, and the hood is also a good size too.
